jasrussell asked: Style question: It only took me 7 books, but it came to me recently that the story in C&R is often "told" from Zane's brain. We see Ty react physically, and occasionally get inside his head, but a lot of the time the internal monologues are Zane's. Given the secrets at play to day, I get one reason why. With more cards on the table now, do you see that evolving for 8 and 9?

I wish I had a really great answer for this, but the truth is very simple.

In general, Zane sees, processes, and then acts. Ty acts as he sees and never processes. So if we’re in Ty’s head, we get his actions and the actions of those around him, and if we’re lucky we get his thoughts either during or after.

If the scene requires descriptions for the reader, if it requires introspection about the events, or just a less manic viewpoint, Zane is often the better cypher for the reader.

Morrigan, jaz bi kljub temu rada več časa preživela v Tyevi glavi :019: :019:

“Remember what I told you about thinking?” Nick asked, voice lowered.

Kelly’s mouth went dry and his cock stirred at the mere thought. “How could I forget?”

Nick’s knees went weak and he fell to the ground. Rocks tore into his shins and hands, but the pain barely registered. The horizon wavered, the landscape mocking him. He lowered his head to shut it out. He just had to shut it all out. His body was giving up on him, and neither he nor Ty would make it far enough to get help.

This was it. They’d gone as far as they could go.

He felt Ty collapse beside him. It took them several minutes, but they finally shifted and turned so they sat with their backs together, propping each other up, keeping watch in opposite directions. Always watching each other’s six.

Nick rested his head against Ty’s and closed his eyes against the brilliant blue of the sky. He was dizzy, like he could feel the world tilting. His body was relaxing into Ty’s, absorbing the warmth.

“We’re going to die here, aren’t we?” he asked. He was shocked by the rasp of his own voice. It was the voice of a man who’d died days ago but didn’t realize it.

Ty turned his head. His breaths were harsh in Nick’s ear. “We’re not dying here. This is not the way it happens.”

Nick tried to swallow, but his mouth was too dry. He turned his head as well, pressing his cheek to Ty’s. Ty’s shoulders had a tremor to them. They were both caked in blood and dirt. After all the battles, the guns, the knives, the kicks to the gut. After all that, exposure and exhaustion were going to kill them. Ty didn’t deserve to die like this. Fuck it, neither did Nick. He was a good Marine. He was a good man. He deserved to go out fighting, to go out meaning something.

They didn’t deserve to die lost in the desert, with only their dog tags to tell their story. They didn’t deserve to be forgotten.

The world had become a waking nightmare, and the hope that had pushed them forward was fading into nothing. Even Nick’s training was failing him. There was nothing that could prepare a man for hopelessness, that could prepare his body to push beyond the idea of death.

The only thing that had gotten him this far was the man with him.

“I can’t think of a better man to die with.”

He felt Ty shake his head and begin to move. “Not today. Not here.”

“Ty.”

“Get up.”

Nick fell to his back as Ty moved, the support from behind suddenly gone. Nick stared at the blue sky and shook his head.

Ty crawled to his side and grabbed him by the shoulders, tugging at him. “Get up, Marine.”

Nick stared into his eyes. His entire body trembled as Ty pulled him up to sit. There was nothing left, but he desperately wanted to be strong at the end. He desperately wanted to be the kind of Marine his friend was. He lowered his head.

Ty pressed his forehead to Nick’s cheek, his hand curling around the back of his neck. “Come on, Irish,” he pleaded. “Get up.”

“It’s over, Ty. We’re done.”

“I don’t believe that. And if you don’t get up, you’re killing me just as dead as you.”

Nick ground his teeth together and glared at Ty. “Bastard.”

Ty held out his hand.

Nick reached out to grip his forearm, and they pulled each other to their feet.

Uglavnem, super branje in sem že začela naslednji del brat ker sta me čist potegnila :tralala:
